Isometric Abs Workout

Yes, I spend a lot of time in the gym. But the gym is hardly the place where I do the bulk of my working out. I exercise in my car, in my home, while I am in a coffee house and everywhere I go. I use isometric exercise principles to keep my body working out almost all the time and you can too. In fact, isometrics are easy and effective.

Isometric Abs Workout

Isometric exercise is defined as static contractions of your muscles and this type of muscle building activity is crucial in your development. You will make great improvements in strength and muscle capacity. Isometric force is the maximum or % of maximum force generated by a muscle in a fixed position. While few people know a lot about isometric workouts, I find them an important part of my workout. They are very challenging to the muscles, yet a complete workout can be done in 15 or 20 minutes.

Studies have shown that muscles are able to gain significantly more strength (force), than dynamically trained muscles as well as the ability to generate force quickly was greatly increased.

Isometrics are essentially applying equal force against a muscle which forces a contraction. This contraction is typically held from 5 - 10 seconds.
